Project actions

The aim of the Lough Carra LIFE Project is to restore the Marl Lake habitat (3140) in Lough Carra to favourable condition, improving the national status and trends of this habitat, and to improve the conservation status of the Orchid-Rich Grasslands, Limestone Pavement, Cladium fen, Common Gulls, Otters & Lesser Horseshoe Bats in the SACs & SPA. Measures will be taken across the catchment to reduce losses of nutrients, by working with farmers and other stakeholders to change practices that are sources of pollution and biodiversity-loss.

In order to achieve the project aims, actions will be carried out in 5 key areas.
